The construction of the Convent of the Capuchin friars was completed in 1630, largely thanks to the donations and help of the town’s population, testifying to the strong bond between the community of Villasor (comunit\u00e0 Sorrese) and the Order. To this day, the structure still preserves its original square-shaped layout spanning two levels. In the past, it housed 14 dormitory cells arranged across two sides of the upper floor, while a third wing accommodated the communal living areas. The ground floor contained the refectory and the storeroom. In the inner courtyard, right at the center of the cloister, one can still admire the ancient cistern that supplied water to the population for several decades, until the construction of the more modern elevated aqueduct (1948) located in the outdoor area of the Convent, where the friars once cultivated their vegetable garden.The Capuchins remained until 1866, the year the Royal Decree was issued, suppressing religious orders and confiscating their assets by the State. In subsequent eras, the premises of the former Convent housed the municipal administration offices, schools and, more recently, until the early 2000s, the kindergarten run by the nuns of the Order of St. Joseph. Currently, the large rooms on the upper floor host the Municipal Multimedia Library.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>
