Chiesa di Sant'Antioco

The Church dedicated to Saint Antiochus is adjacent to the former Convent of the Capuchin Friars, which it predated by a few decades. In fact, it dates back to the very early years of the 17th century.Inside, visitors can admire an ancient baptismal font from 1734, as well as prestigious materials such as the Byzantine marble of the main altar and the inlaid wood of the altars and impressive frames. The church houses several paintings: one depicting the Crucifixion is attributed to the renowned 17th-century painter Orazio de Ferrari, while a second is by the Cagliari-born painter Francesco Massa. Also of considerable value is the wooden sculpture of Saint Fidelis of Sigmaringen, crafted by the 18th-century Sardinian sculptor Giuseppe Antonio Lonis.Following a major restoration project, the Church is today fully accessible and open for worship.
