Su Sonadori Archaeological Area

“The Su Sonadori archaeological site, located about 11 km from Villasor, can be reached by taking State Road 196 (SS 196) towards Villacidro and turning at the junction of the S’Acqua Cotta roadman’s house (cantoniera) onto State Road 293 (SS 293) towards Vallermosa.It stands as an unusual example of a complex nuraghe, resulting from the fusion of an original single tower with six adjacent structures. These buildings differ in shape and size, were constructed at different times, and are joined by curtain walls that also enclose the front courtyard and the side corridor with its entrance passage.The complex is remarkably imposing and is located in the S’Aqua Cotta area, home to one of the oldest springs in the Campidano region. Thousands of years ago, nomadic populations already benefited from the therapeutic properties of this water during seasonal livestock migration (transhumance).
